Online Sales Up But E-commerce Sales Still Lagging: Study

According to a survey released by Statistics Canada, despite the fact that public and private sector online sales rose 27.2 per cent in 2002 to $13.7 billion after an increase of 46 per cent in 2001, selling products online still only accounted for 0.6 per cent of the total operating revenue in the private sector in 2002.

The proportion of private sector businesses selling goods and services online rose slightly from 6.7 per cent in 2001 to 7.5 per cent in 2002.
