Last year, Google announced that it will take the page loading speed of a site into account, when determining the site's search engine ranking.  In short, sites with slow loading times, will rank lower than similar sites, which load faster.

So, how would you like to know what Google thinks about the speed of your site?

Introducing Google's Page Speed Online!

The Google Page Speed online service will allow you to not only see how your site performs, by scoring it out of a potential 100 points, it will also give you recommendations on what's slowing your site down and how to fix it.  By the way, this blog scored 91 out of 100 for page speed when I checked it.

Long loading times can ruin the user experience of a site.  As a result, sites that load slowly often get less traffic and fewer page views.  It was this user experience problem, which apparently led Google to  included page load times into their algorithm.

So, if you want to check the speed of your site (or your competitors sites) and learn how to speed things up, check out Google Page Speed Online right now!
